Airfield Ops – Sunday November 19th

Dear All,

Unfortunately as the International Model Jet flyers were unable to use the site last weekend and cancelled due to the strong winds that we encountered on the airfield last weekend. Therefore they will be using the site this Sunday with the weather predicted to be more suitable for model flying.

Therefore please all be advised that the model jets will be using the tarmac runway on Sunday 19th November for the model flying. All the same safety restrictions will be in place throughout the day that there normally are when they are here using the site. Therefore unfortunately there can be no other flying taking place at the same time.

Kind regards

Weather Station / camera decommissionned

Hi Everyone,

Just to let you know that as part of our efforts to leave Long Marston Airfield by the end of November, the weather station and camera have now been removed and are no longer functional.

Plans are afoot to remove the cabin and container from the airfield before month end after which the club will no longer be flying from Long Marston Airfield as we relocate to our new site a few miles away.

AGM 2017

Dear Member,
I am writing to invite you to the Avonvale Model Flying Club Annual General Meeting.

This will take place at The Lenches Club, Ab Lench Road, Church Lench, WR11 4UQ on Wednesday 1st November 2017.

The meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. so please arrive before then for a prompt start.

Here is a link to the AGM Venue:

The main point of interest will be our NEW FLYING SITE.

Come and learn where the site is – within a few miles of the meeting venue, and our plans for 2018.

As the club is saving money for developing the new site, we will not be providing any food, but there will be a cash bar.

Attached to this email are:

AMFC Nomination Form 2017-18
AMFC Membership Form 2017-2018 v1
AMF Annual General Meeting 2017 Agenda

Minutes of the last AGM have been emailed to all members under separate cover.

Airfield Ops 6th-8th October 2017

Airfield OPS 6th Sept 2017

Trust everyone is well. Just a quick e-mail to let you know that the top end of the drag strip down to the cross runway will be in use this coming Saturday & Sunday 9th/10th September for the annual Radio Control Model Car Speed Weekend. They will be staying on site from Friday evening on the grass area and will be operating both days weather permitting of course which I have to say doesn’t look to good. The grass runway will be available as usual but please be on the look out when crossing the main runway.

Also a further reminder that the drag strip will be in use next Friday 15th September after from 12.00 noon till 5.00 pm. This will be the start of the raceway’s annual Hot Rod Drags event so the runway during these hours will be closed but the grass runway will be available.

Any problems please give me a shout.

Airfield OPS 27th July 2017

Just a quick message to say that there will be a bit of filming taking place at the top of the runway tomorrow morning for a few hours. There’s a company coming in to film a runner that’s all for some internal film. They shouldn’t be in anyone’s way but this all hinges on the weather of course.

Mentioning the runner the organisers for the Run on Saturday will also be setting some areas up tomorrow afternoon so again please be on your guard. Thanks.

AIRFIELD OPS – Wed 19th July 2017

Hi everyone

Trust all is well with you guys. Just a short e-mail to let you know that the main runway heading towards the drag strip has been booked by Volvo Trucks for a customer promotion. The day will commence from 10.00 am till 5.00 pm. There will be a sales unit truck parked on the edge of the runway by the drag strip wall as this is the area they will be using on the day.

Furthermore I want to carry out a few more runway repairs as well before next weekend’s drag race meeting (22rd/23rd July). Also a further reminder that the 5K run will be taking place Saturday 29th July between 8.00 am and 3.00 pm.

On both occasions the grass runway will be open as normal.

Hi All,

Just a quick one, we have the driving experience days on at the end of the week, It will operate in the same manor as two weeks ago with them using the main tarmac runway, flying around this will be able to take place e.g. grass runway and model flying area.

It will be taking place on the 29th, 30th June and 1st July.

Kind regards

Emily Hodges

Event this weekend on the airfield

Please be aware that there is an event on over the next 3 days at the airfield meaning that our access to the club flying site is as per that used on a drag race day.

I received notification of this a few minutes ago so please take care when entering/leaving site.

Please be advised that due to race preparations that the main runway will not be available for model flying on Friday 23rd June.

The club strip will remain open so anyone wishing to fly on that day will need to operate from the club site

Thank you.
